HOURS FAQ
1. How many practical training hours are required in order to receive a license in Alabama?
For those wishing to become licensed in Alabama, 1500 practical training hours are required- 400 of these must be completed with an emphasis on the distribution of medicines, prescriptions, and medical supplies. These 400 hours can be obtained through school rotations as part of the curriculum.
2. Do I have to submit any hours to ALBOP?
If you are a pharmacy student in Alabama, you will not have to submit any hours to ALBOP if you wish to become licensed in Alabama. The hours obtained through school rotations will cover the 1500 hours required and are automatically sent to ALBOP.
3. What if I want to obtain a license from another state that requires a different number of hours?
Some states do have different practical training requirements. If you are required to have non-curriculum (work outside school) hours to be licensed in another state, your hours must be recorded by your preceptor on this form and submitted to the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy by mail, fax, or email. If you would like ALBOP to send your curriculum hours obtained through your school rotations to another state, please email Lynn Martin.
4. Where do I go to submit my non-curriculum hours?

It is free to obtain an intern/extern license.
2. What are the required documents needed to apply online for an intern/extern license?
You will need the following documents: 1. proof of citizenship and 2. passport-sized photo.
3. What do I do if I need a replacement license?
There is no fee for an intern license. Please email Lynn Martin at [email protected] to request a replacement.
4. How do I change my name on my profile?
To change your name on your profile online, we will need a marriage license, divorce decree, or any other legal document from the court indicating your change of name. Please email a copy of this document to Lynn Martin at [email protected]
