- Go to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) website, https://nabp.pharmacy/ and download the Candidate Registration Bulletin. This bulletin will tell you how to create your profile on the NABP website and how to register for the NAPLEX and MPJE. Register for each of these tests.
- Go to the pharmacist’s tab on the Alabama Board website, www.albop.com, and click “APPLY”. Complete the online application. This application will register you for permission to take the test and will be the application for your pharmacist license. There is also an associated charge for the permission to test and apply for a pharmacist’s license.
- When the Board office receives proof of your graduation, the Board will send a notice to NABP stating that you are approved for testing. NABP has 10 days in which to register you for testing and to send you an ATT number. With the ATT number, you may contact the testing company and set up a time for either the NABP or MPJE exams or for both. You may either download a copy of the laws (for the MPJE) from our website or you may send a check or money order for $10 and we will mail them to you.
- Once you have received your grades we will send you the date and time for your interview. If you are graduating from Samford or Auburn, Board members will come to your pharmacy school to interview the class as a whole.

Each state has different requirements, and you will be required to pass additional examinations as part of the state’s license application process.
- As part of the program, you must pass the following examinations:
- Foreign Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE). You may not take the FPGEE until your education and licensure and/or registration have been reviewed and approved. The foreign pharmacy graduate bulletin will explain which documents must be submitted.
- TOEFL iBT-This is a test of proficiency in English. You may take the TOEFL iBT at any time in the process
- Certification ensures that a foreign pharmacist’s education meets acceptable requirements as compared to the education that US-educated pharmacists are expected to have before they practice as licenses pharmacists. The FPGEC Certificate is not a license to practice pharmacy.
